Class description

Join in our lino printing class! Wait…what is lino printing? Well, you use little knives called carving tools to cut into linoleum (or rubber) slabs. Then you roll paint onto your slabs, flip 'em over and press them into a piece of paper, creating a unique print every time! Don't be deceived by the simplicity of this art form - it has supported revolutions and subverted authority for almost two centuries. This class is perfect for beginners, those wishing to reintroduce an old skill or intermediates that need new inspiration. Warning - may lead to subversive tendancies - also, watch your fingers...these tools are sharp! What's included? Carving tools of all shapes and sizes. Paint rollers, brushes and pallets. Lino slabs Paper for practice, and nice thick paper for your final piece. A skilled lino printing artist to show you the ropes. (See the beautiful black and white prints in the pictures. The one of the face is not the skilled lino printer but someone who was just having some fun). Tea and coffee. What to bring? Yourself dressed in clothes you don't love love because it can get messy. BYO if you want to get a bit silly (I wouldn't go overboard though because the carving tools are sharp). Other important info: All ages! Under 15s must be accompanied by an adult (exceptions can be made if your child is super mature and you understand this is not a babysitting club).
